Twentysix were approached by a residential developer to design a new build dwelling on a corner plot of land in Formby Merseyside. The developer had been trying to secure planning permission for a design for the new dwelling for some time but with no success give the site proximity to an adjacent listed building. We were able to get on board and address some of the issues which had been highlighted by the LPA to develop a new design based on creating smaller volumes interconnected with volumes and forms in keeping with the surrounding vernacular.

The brief outlined the requirement for 5 bedrooms with en-suites, a large open plan living area, a swimming pool & gym along with home office and secure parking.

The ‘L’ shaped layout addressed the corner plot breaking the building into 2 linear forms at right angles connected by a new glass entrance link.

The forms of the building responded to the adjacent buildings with a new flat green roof portion to one side and a slate tiled gable elevation to the other. The new design was submitted for planning and granted full planning permission allowing the developer to build out the scheme with in a matter of months.
